The first-ever Minnan-themed immersive attraction in China, “Meet Amoy: Illusion of Time,” has become an instant hit. Foreign tourists arriving via the “Regita” cruise ship were among the first to explore the park, participating in Dragon Boat Festival-themed activities and immersing themselves in a touchable, interactive, and emotionally engaging Minnan cultural feast.

“Amazing!” exclaimed international visitors as they wandered through the park’s three performance zones and eight themed streets. They enjoyed intangible cultural heritage performances, interacted with traditionally dressed NPCs for photos, and indulged in the enticing aromas of Minnan snacks. Many cruise tourists even dressed in traditional Chinese clothing to fully experience the limited-time Dragon Boat Festival celebrations.

Italian tourist Luca Zachary shared that “Meet Amoy” left a deep impression on him. He recorded videos of the “Echoes of a Millennium” performance and captured images of Minnan architectural wonders, such as ancient red-brick buildings, as well as moments from the themed activities. “Wearing traditional Chinese clothing for a Chinese festival and interacting with an armored ‘Chinese general’ was incredibly fun,” he said.

Across the eight themed streets, 83 intangible cultural heritage elements are deeply integrated into the architecture, performances, and interactive experiences. Visitors can not only savor traditional snacks in bustling market alleys and listen to the elegant melodies of Nanyin music but also try their hand at非遗刺绣 (non-heritage embroidery) and even join in an impromptu Nanyang street theater performance.
