3-Day Leisurely Family Tour in Xiamen

Day 1 – Old Town Charm & Beach Time
Start at Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street. Let your kids see the traditional arcade buildings, and taste local treats like peanut soup and “tusun冻” (jelly with sea worm – ask for mild flavour). Then head to Xiamen Science & Technology Museum, which features a children’s discovery zone and robot shows – perfect for hot afternoons.
In the afternoon, rent a family bike along Huandao Road (Ring Road). Stop at Pearl Bay Beach to build sandcastles and collect shells. End the day with a seafood dinner in Zengcuo’an – try steamed grouper and fried rice noodles.

Day 2 – Relaxed Gulangyu & Sunset Park
Take a morning ferry to Gulangyu Island (stroller-friendly access available). Visit Xiamen Underwater World to see penguins and the ocean tunnel. Then walk along Neicuo’ao Road to avoid crowds. Let children play on Gangzaihou Beach, right next to Shuzhuang Garden – the piano museum and rock maze are huge hits.
Return to the main island in the afternoon. In the evening, go to Bayuan Park (Haibin Park) with its large lawn and free children’s playground. Watch cargo ships sail by as the sun sets.

Day 3 – Botanical Garden & Train-over-Sea Ride
Morning: Wanshi Botanical Garden (enter from the west gate, take the shuttle bus). Don’t miss the Rainforest World (mist sprays from 9:00–11:00) and the Succulent Plant Zone with giant cacti.
Afternoon: Take a short trip to Jimei School Village. Experience the “train over the sea” – ride Xiamen Metro Line 1 across the sea view section. Finally, stroll around Dragon Boat Pond and enjoy a bowl of Dashe satay noodles (mild version available for kids).
